SmartHER Money is designed to help you learn and grow no matter what your financial status. From women who are just beginning to take control of their financial lives to those who want to fine-tune their knowledge, there’s great information and support for all ages, stages and income and experience levels.

All SmartHER Money programming, events, resources and support are free. You will never be asked to pay for anything OR to buy anything. It is not paid for by tax dollars. Funding for SmartHER Money comes from fines levied by the Iowa Department of Insurance and Financial Services on bad actors who commit fraud, as well as dollars from a portion of licensing fees paid by securities agents that are designated for investor education.

In addition to regulating insurance and other securities transactions in Iowa, the IID has a strong consumer advocacy component. Providing free, unbiased and factual information on finances for women to increase their financial literacy helps not only individual women, but also the overall economic well-being of the state of Iowa.

SmartHER Money recognizes the unique challenges women face regarding money. Its purpose is to fill gaps in women’s financial education and empower women to seek financial independence. That said, many men can also benefit from SmartHER Money tools, resources and advice.

SmartHER Money helps women earn more, plan better, save more and prepare for retirement. From advice about ways to increase your income to ideas for better budgeting, spending and saving, you’ll get solid information — plus a bit of inspiration and motivation to empower you to seek financial well-being.
